District 10 comprises San Francisco's neighborhoods hardest hit by the twin ills of unemployment and toxic pollution's devastating health effects. This affects our physical, social, and economic well-being.
I believe that District 10 can become the center of a local green economy that provides opportunities to those who need them most. D10 has an unprecedented opportunity to lead the way as an incubator of a new green economy that uses greener truckers, turns waste into energy, builds green buildings, transports goods by rail, and produces local, sustainable biodiesel.
I will use my proven leadership in these areas to put first-hire programs in place that create and support these kinds of jobs and to keep them in the District.
Our campaign towards November 2 has just begun, and I will need your help to build on the progress we have made.
I am grateful for all of your support so far. I am confident of what we can accomplish together, and I am looking forward to the next phase of this campaign.
